Santa Claus is coming to town!

Well, he will be in a couple of months. Although most people havent thought about Christmas cards yet, those of you in stamping land will realise that I'm way behind as this is the first one Ive made!

I love tri-shutter cards. When I started making them I realised they werent as complicated as they look, so if you haven't tried it yet definitely give it a go.

This is a piece of cardstock measuring 12"x5.5". It's scored vertically at 2", 4", 8" and 10", then cut horizontally 1.25" in from the top, then the bottom, between the 2" and 10" score lines, then folded as the photo shows... voila!

I stamped images onto Whisper White cardstock layering it over Real Red for a traditional Christmas look. I think its really striking.

Stampin' Markers have been used to colour key areas and the 1.3/4 Circle Punch and Boho Blossoms Punch outs are on dimensionals for that bit of extra... well, dimension! I've also used Linen Thread and some paper piercing for a bit more detail.

First Birthday

I love most things pink and glittering, but Im not totally in love with this card.

My first thought was to spell out the name (rather than the age) of the recipient, but it was slightly too big. One of these days I might make a card thats not square! Maybe... I did say might.

The letters from the Big Deal Alphabet have been inked in three different pinks and using my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped them all several times to get more prominent colours. The square Whisper White cardstock base has Sweet Always Designer Series Paper layered on the top half section and the Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon hides the break in the DSP and cardstock. The sentiment from Basic Phrases just breaks up the white. I inked it in Regal Rose and I am loving that colour!

I cut out the letters with my Paper Snips and used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach them. I also gave them a quick coating of glitter for good measure...

ROAR... Dine-saw!

My little boy loves "dine-saws" and I just had to have this Prehistoric Pals stamp set. Unfortunately its not available in the UK, so its come all the way from Florida courtesy of my very kind friend Cindy ~ thank you SO much, I owe you :)

Ive only used two of the dinosaurs, one inked in Taken with Teal and the other in Tempting Turquoise. My Stamp-a-ma-jig made sure that one sat perfectly ontop of the other and the paper piercer from the Crafters' Tool Kit gave the image a bit more detail. I used my Paper Snips to distress the edges of the Very Vanilla Card and layered it onto Taken with Teal cardstock.

Bashful Blue Double-Stitched Grosgrain ribbon is embellished with some Linen Thread and a Coloured Button. The sentiment taken from Basic Phrases is inked in Taken with Teal and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock... the edges are distressed once again and Stampin Dimensionals give it a bit of definition.

Four Weddings and...

... another wedding! Five people I know are getting married this year. FIVE! So I thought I should get started on some wedding designs. This is the first one.

Unfortunately this stamp set isnt Stampin' Up. Although Ive promised myself not to buy products anywhere else, I cant just abandon my old stamps, especially when they are this lovely!

I have however used Stampin' Up everything else and I love that this card isnt "traditional" wedding, its not white there is absolutely no silver.

The happy couple have been inked in Basic Black and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. I used Stampin' Markers to colour most of the image (leaving the wedding dress white, of course!). Really I should have used a solvent based ink like StazOn as I was colouring, but I find if you're careful the Stampin' Markers can be used easily with the Stampin' Pads.

I am so pleased my Paper Snips helped me cut the image out so cleanly; they work around the trickiest of shapes very easily. Stampin' Dimensionals do their job and give the couple some dimension on the Very Vanilla cardstock, which is layered over Rose Red cardstock and again onto the Very Vanilla base. Finally the sentiment is Basic Black inked onto Very Vanilla, layered on Rose Red.

The animals came in two by two...

And the animal themed cards came flooding in... I know, I know. I do have some non-animals stamps, I promise. But I just love these Wild About You ones. When I first saw them, I wondered how many animals I could stack up. If I had used a tall card rather than a square one, I probably could have squeezed the giraffe and the penguin in too!

Its a really simple design, I inked the crocodile up in Old Olive and stamped him onto Whisper White. Then I used my Stamp-a-m-jig (which is amazing) to position the other animals ontop precisely where I wanted them, rather than just guessing where they might end up. The elephant is Brocade Blue, the lion is Real Red and the bird is More Mustard. I added the flower that Ellie is "holding" in Elegant Eggplant. I love these colours together!

The Whisper White card is mounted onto Real Red, then Brocade Blue. Unfortunately the sentiment at the side isnt by Stampin' Up (slap my wrists) but its one of my favourites and I think it works really well here.

Baby blues...

Well, it may be a boy, I had to do a blue one. But to be truthful, I just like baby cards! This card is very similar to the pink one I did, however this time I did use the elephant from Nursery Necessitites and actually its adorable and much more suitable.

Again, the base cardstock is white and square, layered with DSP, more cardstock and ribbon. Ive used the paper piercer from the Crafters' Tool Kit again, just in a different place and the sentiment is on Stampin' Dimensionals.

The FIRST Card ~ Oh Baby

So, a friend of mine is pregnant... yay! And as I've just purchased the Nursery Necessities stamp set, I thought I would start off with a 'New Baby' card. I love Nursery Necessities, its just too cute! But as it turned out I decided to use the elephant stamp from Wild About You... it was just a bit bigger and bolder.

The base cardstock is square, layered with DSP, more cardstock and ribbon. I also used the paper piercer from the Crafters' Tool Kit and Stampin Dimensionals to give the sentiment a bit of a pop!

I wont give this one to my friend, its just the first try afterall and the baby isn't due for two months! But I love the pink and the clean simple lines...
